'Home Improvement' star says Patricia Richardson got 'tired' of fighting for the sitcom
Taran Noah Smith, who played the youngest Taylor son on 'Home Improvement,' says co-star Patricia Richardson grew exhausted from constantly pushing to keep the show realistic before it ended in 1999 after she declined to return for a ninth season. Smith says much of the creative burden fell on Richardson while Tim Allen stayed more hands-off, and that a pay gap between the two co-stars was also a sticking point. Richardson reportedly felt Disney never fully credited her creative contributions to the show, despite Allen receiving an executive producer credit.
