Three Florida counties — Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco — have declared local states of emergency over a dengue fever outbreak, with 179 confirmed cases so far this year. The disease is spread by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, and health officials say heavy rains left standing water that accelerated breeding. Authorities are conducting door-to-door inspections and urging residents to remove standing water from their properties.
